Writing down and recognizing your gifts is just as important as writing down your goals. Goals can change over time and so can your gifts but what successful individuals have in common is that they focus on their gifts and not their faults. They focus on their assets, but not their deficits.
Successful companies and communities become so by connecting individual gifts that weren’t connected before.
Recently I’ve been asking people about their gifts have been humbled by some of the responses:
- “I’m a good listener.”
- “I’m a good singer.”
- “I’m good at dealing with different types of people.”
- “I’m a good public speaker.”
- “I’m good at baking.”
- “I’m good at selling things.”
- “I’m good at sports.”
- “I’m good at working with youth.”
How many people would I have to ask before hearing the same gift twice?
My Gifts
The first one is a new one I just discovered about myself and the second one I’ve survived off of for quite some time.
- I like to connect people’s gifts together.
- I’m good at figuring stuff out if I don’t know it.
I’m going to try harder to focus on my gifts and not my faults.
What Are Your Gifts?
If you are inspired, please share your gifts with me by adding a comment. I really really want to know! If you’re feeling modest just ask your friends and family what you’re good at and go from there.

I'm good for nothing... that is apparently I do plenty of decent work for free. Or do I. "Free" is subjective ;)
My gift is of the gab. Something to do with my Mom I'm pretty sure. My memory is a pretty great gift too. I credit both my folks for that.
I believe I have a high EQ - Emotional Quotient -> which translates into good at understanding people, their needs and motivations.
Empathy.
Its the most important skill for a designer/consultant/manager etc imho.
Creativity, in work, play and life :D Get out your crayons!
I am a builder: products; businesses; communities; and ultimately a better world!
I'm a good writer, and a good baker, and I'm also good at giving advice. (This may not be the same as giving good advice.)
I'm good at eating Pop Tarts. (Someone has to do it)
I'm good at believing - in people, in visions, in ideas - and helping others believe in them too.
Hmmm...I think I'm good at seeing a situation from many different perspectives, which makes me a good devil's advocate and a good arguer. I'm also a good listener.
Well according to Pat I have a gift for talking endlessly for hours and hours... quite the gift.
